Herefordshire heart problem figures released

A Herefordshire person is admitted to hospital as an emergency over heart problems on average every two days.

There were 207 such instances in 2009/10, relating to 125 males and 50 females, the NHS in Herefordshire said.

They were admitted with a primary diagnosis of acute or subsequent myocardial infarction or 'heart attack', it added.

In 2009, 94 Herefordshire people died with an underlying cause of acute or subsequent myocardial infarction.
