A man has died after his car collided with a 4x4 vehicle towing a trailer full of sheep near Hereford.
Emergency crews were called just after 1400 GMT to the A4110 Canon Pyon Road, south of the village of Canon Pyon.
A police spokesman said the crash involved a Peugeot 307 and a Daihatsu 4x4 which was towing the trailer.
He said the driver of the Peugeot, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. About 20 sheep had to be cleared from the road.
Minor injuries
Police said a woman passenger in the Peugeot was taken to hospital with "minor injuries" and a man and teenage boy in the Daihatsu were unharmed.
All of the animals in the trailer survived.
Insp Jim McLaughlin said the road was closed and a diversion was put in place.
A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters helped free a woman from one of the vehicles and then worked alongside the police and local farmers to lead the flock of about 20 sheep to safety.
