Sheep trailer collision man 'had heart attack'

A man who died after his car collided with a 4x4 towing a trailer of sheep had a heart attack, police have said.

Barrie Gittoes, 71, was driving a Peugeot 307 along the A4110 Canon Pyon Road, in Hereford, when it collided with a Daihatsu 4x4 on Wednesday.

Post-mortem tests showed a heart attack led to his death rather than the crash.

The driver of the 4x4 had minor injuries. About 20 sheep had to be cleared from the road.

A female passenger in the car with Mr Gittoes, from Norton Manor Park, Norton Presteigne in Herefordshire, suffered minor injuries, police added.

All of the animals in the trailer survived.
