Circus performers in Worcester get help with the census

Census officers in Worcester have had the unusual job of helping a group of circus performers fill in their forms.

The Netherlands National Circus is staging shows in Worcester and, by law, they must complete the census form.

Chris Baltrop, circus spokesman, said officers had come ready with forms in many different languages.

"I've got to congratulate the census officers for thinking to come down and ask us, so that we are included," he said.

Lisa Ricketts, area co-ordinator for the census in Worcester, said that it was important that they get a complete picture.

"The idea is that it's a snapshot on the 27th of March of exactly where everybody is, so that means we're counting the circus… we're also going around sorting homeless people, people who live in caravans, people who live on boats and, of course, everybody who lives in a household," she said.
