A shop in Hereford has lost its licence after smuggled cigarettes and alcohol were found during two raids.

The East European Food shop, in Eign Street, had already had its licence suspended after a search in December found illegal cigarettes and alcohol.

That ban is now a permanent one after more cigarettes were found in a second search last month.

Herefordshire Council said it had taken the decision because "serious crime had occurred at the premises".

Officers from Herefordshire Council, HM Revenue and Customs and West Mercia Police carried out the raids and found more than 304,000 cigarettes, 10kg of tobacco and alcohol.
