West Mercia police patrol Bromsgrove 'beauty spots'

West Mercia police will be on patrol in popular Bromsgrove beauty spots to try and reduce crime over the summer.

It is the second year Operation Everest has been run by the police and Bromsgrove District Council.

Teams on bicycles and on foot will be advising drivers in the car parks about how to improve their safety.

Chris Santoriello-Smith from the council said: "Closing windows, removing valuables and securing vehicles all helps to reduce crime."

Vehicle crime in the area was recorded at 39 incidents over Easter 2009 and fell to 22 incidents last year, according to Bromsgrove District Council.

Mr Santoriello-Smith said: "Motorists should be aware that vehicle crime tends to increase in beauty spot car parks... especially when the weather is good."
