Worcestershire Royal Hospital evacuated over smoke fear

About 100 outpatients were evacuated from Worcestershire Royal Hospital after reports of a smell of smoke in the main building.

A nurse sounded the fire alarm at about 10:00 GMT and the patients were taken to the car park and given blankets and warm drinks, a spokesman said.

No fire was detected and crews inspected the building before allowing them to return at 11:30 GMT.

Patients are being told to assume appointments later are still happening.
