Droitwich homes plan approved by Wychavon District Council

Plans for 740 new homes in Droitwich have been given the go ahead by Wychavon District Council.

The proposals, by developer William Davies Ltd, include almost 300 affordable homes, as well as commercial units in the Salwarpe area.

The development is planned for land between Roman Way and Copcut Lane.

About 500 people signed a petition against the plans, which were also opposed by the parish council and Droitwich Spa Civic Society.

The town council also said the infrastructure in the Salwarpe area would struggle to cope with the number of homes involved.

Work is expected to start next year.
