Police have been given more time to question a man on suspicion of murdering his wife who went missing five months ago.

Alethea Taylor, 63, was last seen at her home in Orleton, Herefordshire, on 19 January.

Her husband John Taylor has been named locally as the man who was arrested on Tuesday.

West Mercia Police can question the suspect until Friday morning after being granted a 36-hour extension.

Extensive searches were carried out to find Mrs Taylor, including by police officers, mountain rescue teams and hundreds of residents.

Det Insp Dave Williams said investigations into her disappearance were continuing.
