A woman injured in a suspected arson attack in Kidderminster has died.

Sandra Nowocinska, 22, and her five-year-old son, were rescued from a flat in Horsefair at about 22:00 GMT on 27 November.

Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Ms Nowocinska died on Monday, while her son remains in a serious but stable condition. West Mercia Police said they were treating her death as manslaughter.

A 41-year-old man from Kidderminster arrested in connection with the fire has since been released on police bail.

Eyewitnesses described a bang followed by a "big cloud of smoke" as several people jumped from flats above shops.

Det Insp Leighton Harding said his thoughts were with Ms Nowocinska's family and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
