A skydiver has died after an accident witnessed by shocked families at a music festival in Bridlington.

Ryan Lee Brown suffered multiple injuries after landing badly during the fundraising event at Bridlington Sports and Community Club on Sunday night.

The 31-year-old, from Goole, was taken by air ambulance to Scarborough hospital, where he later died.

Humberside Police and the British Parachuting Association (BPA) are both investigating the incident.

A BPA spokesman confirmed there had been a fatal accident and the association had set up a board of inquiry.

Stunts performed

Investigators from the BPA are due to visit the scene of the accident on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Humberside Police said it was investigating the incident but Mr Brown's death was not being treated as suspicious.

Det Sgt Steve Shanks said: "Ryan's death at this stage appears to be a tragic accident. He was an experienced parachutist."

Police would like to speak to anyone who attended the event.

One eyewitness told BBC News that Mr Brown was part of a team performing stunts at the family event.

The shocked crowd, including many children, saw him land badly during one of the manoeuvres, he said.
