A teenage girl left critically injured in a crash which claimed the lives of two 16 years olds in Scunthorpe is in a stable condition in hospital.

Joshua Parkin, of Bluebell Grove, Brigg, was killed alongside Laura McGowan when the car they were in collided with a lorry in Scunthorpe.

Humberside Police said a 16-year-old girl, who was also in the car, remained in hospital.

The car driver, an 18-year-old man, was arrested and has been released on bail.

Police said the car, a blue Honda Civic, was travelling on Dawes Lane towards Brigg and the HGV, a blue DAF, was travelling in the opposite direction when they collided at 1646 BST on Saturday.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
