Woman left blind in one eye in attack talks of ordeal

A woman who was left blind in one eye after she was attacked has spoken about her ordeal.
Denise Petch, 41, of Bridlington, was assaulted at Elma Villas on 5 October. She has lost the sight in her left eye.
In a statement Ms Petch said her ordeal was a "nightmare". She also thanked staff at Scarborough Hospital for their help after the incident.
Ms Petch, a mother of five, said she had lost all sight in her left eye and there was some damage to her right eye.
"Until you lose your vision, you just don't know how much you rely on your sight," she said.
"My friends and family are supporting me through this nightmare and I just hope my vision will eventually recover in my right eye, so I can see my beautiful children clearly again."
"I would like to thank all the well-wishers who have sent me cards and words of kindness since the attack.
"I am sincerely grateful to the police for all their efforts and the hospital and surgeon for their medical intervention."
