An 18-year-old has been charged with murdering a man who was assaulted outside a Hull pub in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Wayne Amess, 40, of Woodgate Road, Hull, was punched in the face during a disturbance outside The George on Walton Street.

Nathan Burgin, of Ampleforth Grove, was charged on Sunday night and appeared before magistrates in Hull earlier.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Hull Crown Court on 5 January.
