Flat fire in Hull leads to cannabis factory arrest

A house fire in Hull has led to the arrest of a man following the discovery of a cannabis factory.

The fire service attended the fire on Thursday morning on Hessle Road before alerting police at about 0630 GMT.

The police said the fire may have been started by an electrical fault caused by cultivation equipment.

No one was hurt, but a man, 22, was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.

Humberside police said that cultivation equipment could lead to criminal investigation as well as putting lives at risk, as buildings and electrics were often tampered with to accommodate equipment.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
