A teenager has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a man in a brawl outside a Hull pub in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Wayne Amess, 40, of Woodgate Road, Hull, died after he was punched in the face and fell during a disturbance outside The George on Walton Street.

Nathan Burgin, 18, of Ampleforth Grove, admitted his manslaughter and three further offences of actual bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody at Hull Crown Court ahead of his sentencing.

His mother Amanda Burgin, 38, of Ampleforth Grove, pleaded guilty to a charge of affray.

Both are due to be sentenced next month.

The court heard Mr Amess fell and hit his head on the pavement when he was punched, and died later in hospital.
