RAF rescues family cut off by tide at Ulrome Sands

A family of four, including a four-year-old boy, had to be rescued by an RAF helicopter in East Yorkshire after they got cut off by the tide.

The mother, father, son, and 13-year-old daughter were at the base of cliffs at Ulrome Sands near Bridlington when they got into difficulty.

A Sea King helicopter from RAF Leconfield was alerted to the incident at about 1450 BST on Saturday.

Each family member was winched to safety and deemed to be "healthy".
