Job losses at H and L Garages in East Yorkshire

More than 170 people have been made redundant at an East Yorkshire commercial vehicle dealer which has gone out of business.

H and L Garages had seven outlets across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire employing 194 people.

A statement from the administrators said that the firm had ceased trading and 176 members of staff had been made redundant.

The company sold and serviced Mercedes Benz vans and lorries.

Administrators BDO said they were seeking a buyer for the assets of the company.

Paul Bates, BDO business restructuring partner, said: "Unfortunately the economic climate and difficult trading conditions adversely affected the business.

"The joint administrators are taking all necessary steps to mitigate risks to stakeholders and, going forward, will seek to maximise recoveries for the benefit of creditors."
