Schoolgirl hit by MoD training truck in Hull

A lorry which hit and seriously injured a schoolgirl in Hull was a military driver training truck.

The 11-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition after being trapped underneath the vehicle.

The unnamed girl was understood to have been walking home from school when she was hit on Axminster Close in Hull on Wednesday afternoon.

The truck is understood to have been from the Defence School of Transport at Normandy Barracks in Leconfield.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence said: "The matter is currently under investigation by Humberside Police and therefore it would not be appropriate to comment any further on the specifics of the incident.

"Clearly, our thoughts are very much with the girl involved and her family and we sincerely hope that she makes a full and quick recovery."

Humberside Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident in the Bransholme area of the city to contact them.
