Safety fears prompt Hull 10K road race reroute

The route of a 10k race in Hull has been changed at the last minute because of fears over the safety of a building.

The run, part of the Jane Tomlinson series, had been due to pass the junction of Wellington Street and Queen Street.

But the race organisers said Hull City Council had contacted them and said the building was at risk of collapse.

The road has been closed and the race has been rerouted down Humber Street. The race was due to begin at 09:30.

Organisers said the event would still meet UK Athletics' criteria for a 10k road race.
