Couple sought after dog bites child in East Yorkshire

A couple, believed to be in their 70s, are being sought by police after a toddler was bitten by a dog.

The couple were walking with two dogs, a Rottweiler and a Staffordshire bull terrier, in woods at Raywell, Cottingham, East Yorkshire, on 10 June.

A woman, who was with her 18-month-old son, asked if the dogs were OK to stroke when the Rottweiler lunged at the boy injuring him.

The child required surgery for a laceration to his hairline.

Humberside Police said the couple, who had told the toddler's mother the dogs were OK to stroke, left the area while the woman tended to her son's injuries.

The boy received a 1.5in (3.8cm) laceration to his hairline and a graze near his left eye.
