Up to 60 firefighters have tackled a large blaze at a waste recycling plant in East Yorkshire.

The fire, at Transwaste on Melton Business Park, Melton, broke out at about 07:00 BST.

Humberside Fire and Rescue said nearby residents had been advised to keep doors and windows shut while the blaze was brought under control.

Firefighters said the blaze, though large, had been confined to one building at the plant.

Jason Kirby, group manager from the fire service, said: "We don't anticipate that there's anything really hazardous in the large smoke plume."
