Man's death at Grimsby flat 'suspicious'

The death of a man who was found at a flat in Grimsby is being treated as suspicious.

Police said the 48-year-old, who has not been formally identified, was found by paramedics at a property on Freeman Street on Tuesday morning.

A post-mortem examination took place on Tuesday evening.

A 28-year-old man arrested over the death remains in custody. Police refused to say what he was arrested on suspicion of.

A police cordon placed around the property remains in place while forensic examinations are carried out.

Det Ch Insp Matt Baldwin, of Humberside Police, said: "Our inquiries are ongoing and we are taking steps to formally identify the man who has died, but are not yet in a position to confirm his name.

"Our officers are in contact with his family offering support and are providing updates to them on our investigation."

Police appealed for witnesses to come forward.
