Police were called to St Andrew's Docks after a fisherman spotted a trail of blood

Police investigating a trail of blood more than a mile long in Hull have traced the person who was injured.

The blood was found stretching from St Andrew's Docks to parts of Hessle Road and Cholmley Street on Thursday morning.

Humberside Police said the man who had been injured had been found "safe and well".

Officers said no crime had been committed and had no more to offer on the circumstances.

On Thursday police said that due to the substantial amount of blood found they feared someone had suffered a "severe injury".

However, searches on the banks of the Humber estuary failed to identify a victim.

The blood was first spotted by a member of the public who was fishing off the docks and he alerted officers shortly before 11:00 BST on Thursday.
