Olympic gold medallist Luke Campbell has pulled out of a scheduled fight on 7 March, promoters have said.

The 26-year-old Hull lightweight, who has won all five of his bouts since turning professional, was due to fight at the Hull Ice Arena.

But, he has pulled out to spend time with his family as his father, who has cancer, is moved to a hospice.

The boxer, who was awarded an MBE, said "it is important to spend every second possible with my family".

Promoter Eddie Hearn has now said the Hull fighter's bout will be replaced on the card.

In August last year, Campbell said he was taking a break from the sport but a March 2015 date with an opponent had then loomed on the calendar.

He said: "After a period in intensive care, my Dad has now been moved to Dove House Hospice and I feel it's important that I spend every second possible with my family."

"I hope that the fans understand my decision and I shall be back in action soon."
