Armed robber holds up post office in Romney Marsh

A robber wearing a crash helmet and armed with what was believed to be a gun has held up a post office in Kent.

The man went into the shop in St Mary's Bay in Romney Marsh just after 1300 BST and demanded money.

Kent Police said an elderly man was hurt when he was pushed to the floor but no shots were fired.

It is believed the robber made off with cash and fled the scene as a pillion passenger on a motorbike parked outside a nearby shop.

The offender is described as white 5ft 10in tall, slim, and was wearing an orange helmet and dark trousers.

The rider of the motorbike, which made off down Jefferson Lane, was also wearing dark trousers.
