Warning after thieves take catalytic converters in Kent

Motorists have been warned to be extra vigilant following a spate of catalytic converter thefts in Kent.

Kent Police said thieves were using jacks to lift cars and then hydraulic cutters to remove the converters from vehicles in car parks during the day.

Cars in Headcorn, Maidstone and Sittingbourne have been targeted over the past two days.

The force has appealed for anyone with information about the catalytic converter thefts to contact officers.

Pc Steve Hobbs said: "Thieves are blatantly using jacks to lift cars up and then using hydraulic cutters to remove the catalytic converters quickly.

"I would therefore urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour in the town centre car parks across mid Kent."
