Three arrests over Dartford 'hanging' death in woodland

Three people have been arrested after the body of a man was found in woodland in Kent.

Colin Birch, 44, of Erith, south-east London, was found dead in a wooded area near Wood Lane, Dartford, on 30 July.

It is believed he had been hanged. A post mortem examination revealed the cause of death was suspension.

Kent Police said the death was being treated as suspicious and a man, aged 41, and two women, aged 34 and 35, had been arrested.

All three were released on police bail until 27 August.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police said: "Police were called to a wooded area near Wood Lane, Dartford, just after 7.20pm on Friday 30 July following reports that a man's body had been found.

"Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the man.

"Three people, a man and two women, were arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed while inquiries continue."
