Man remanded in custody over Gillingham street assault

A 21-year-old man was remanded in custody when he appeared in court charged with grievous bodily harm after a man was assaulted in a Kent street.

Ruben White, of Kingswood Road, Gillingham, appeared before Medway magistrates following the incident in Balmoral Road on Saturday.

The 35-year-old victim remains in a critical condition with head injuries at Medway Maritime Hospital.

Three other men arrested in connection with the incident have been bailed.

Mr White is next due to appear at the same court on 31 August.
