Chatham man charged after Kent Pc injured in Rochester

A Chatham man has been charged in connection with an incident in which a female police officer was injured.

Jonathan Cooper, 33, of Sundridge Drive, was remanded in custody at Maidstone Crown Court.

He has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, causing injury through wanton driving and failing to report an accident.

The Pc was injured after approaching a suspect vehicle in Corporation Street, Rochester, on 20 August.

As the vehicle drove off, she was dragged along the road and suffered severe bruising.

Mr Cooper has also been charged with driving without insurance, taking a vehicle without consent and making off without payment.

He will next appear at the court on 15 October.
