Motorist dies as car hits fence in Wingham

A 74-year-old man has died after his car crashed into a fence in Kent.

The man was driving a red Vauxhall car on Preston Road in Wingham when the accident happened at 1010 BST on Wednesday.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The road was closed for four hours for investigations to be carried out and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
