Ramsgate man arrested over slash attack robbery

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a male shop assistant was slashed in the face during a robbery at a Kent store.

Two masked men raided the West Dumpton Stores in West Dumpton Lane, Ramsgate just after 1930 BST on Monday.

Kent Police said the pair threatened the shop assistant and his wife with a knife before one of them slashed the man's cheek.

A man from Ramsgate was arrested in the early hours of Thursday.

Police said a customer was also grabbed during the attack.

The shop assistant was due to be treated by a specialist plastic surgeons at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate.

The two robbers escaped with £300 in cash and £200 worth of cigarettes.
