A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital after being punched in the face in a robbery at a newsagent's in Kent.

Two masked men entered Kent Mart in Church Green, Marden, at 2050 GMT on Friday as the takings were being counted before the shop closed.

Kent Police said one of the men punched the assistant counting the money while the other grabbed the cash.

The pair escaped, possibly in a burgundy or maroon vehicle. The man's injuries are not thought to be serious.

Police said the street outside was busy at the time of the robbery and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
