Pedestrian dies in Canterbury after being hit by car

A pedestrian has died in east Kent after she stepped from a parked vehicle and was struck by a passing car.

The woman, who was in her 60s, was struck by a silver Vauxhall Corsa on The Terrace, in Canterbury, at about 1635 GMT on Friday.

Emergency services attended the scene but she sustained fatal injuries. Next-of-kin have been informed.

The Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit is examining the circumstances of the incident.
