Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Birchington


A pedestrian believed to be in his 40s has died after being hit by a car in Kent.

The Mini Cooper was travelling on the A28 at Canterbury Road, Birchington, towards Thanet Way, when the incident happened at 0930 GMT on Sunday.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate, where he was pronounced dead.

The female driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The road was closed for over four hours.

Kent Police have not yet released the identity of the pedestrian.
