Probe follows dead cat discovery in Gravesend
An investigation is under way after the mutilated body of a pet cat was found in Kent.
The RSPCA said the animal, called Ellie, was found wedged between spikes on top of a fence near the family home in Gravesend.
Insp Alison Fletcher said the cat's tail had been severed and she had been placed on the fence deliberately.
She said the fence was at the end of an alleyway and overlooked by a row of houses in Havengore Avenue.
"It is possible that someone could have seen something," she said.
The RSPCA believe the cat was killed at some point on Christmas Eve.
She said: "The family had been out looking for Ellie and had already looked in the area of the fence, so we can pinpoint the time she was left there fairly exactly."
