Flu victims in Kent urged to stay at home

People with mild flu-like symptoms have been urged not to visit hospitals in Kent this winter to avoid spreading the virus.

The Eastern and Coastal Kent NHS Trust has asked patients who develop colds and flu to stay at home.

Sarah Andrews, the trust's director of nursing, said most people would get better on their own in a few days.

However, elderly people, pregnant women and those with other serious health conditions, should contact their GP.

She said: "The best advice for dealing with these illnesses is to stay at home, keep warm, and drink plenty of fluids.

"This also reduces the risk of spreading your germs to others."
