Gillingham betting shop raider threatened woman with axe

A woman working in a betting shop was threatened with an axe during an attempted robbery.

Kent Police said the man went into the bookmakers in Gillingham High Street on Monday.

He was disturbed by another woman working in the shop and ran off without taking anything, officers said.

Det Insp Geoff Payne said police wanted to hear about anyone seen acting suspiciously nearby between 2000 GMT and 2100 GMT.

No-one was hurt in the raid.
