Ecotricity site considered for Sellindge windfarm

An electricity company that wants to build a new windfarm in Kent has started consulting local residents.

Ecotricity claims to be the world's first green electricity company and wants to build a six-turbine windfarm near Sellindge.

A previous attempt by the firm to build a windfarm in Dover failed, following a public inquiry.

Spokesman Mike Cheshire said there was still a lot of work to do on the ground to find out if it was a good site.

He said: "We need to measure the actual windspeed on site with the temporary windmast, and that could take anything up to 12 months, and once we've looked at all that data and analysed it, only then will we know whether this site is a good one for wind."
