Medway Council warning over rogue traders in Kent

Rogue traders offering parking and driveway improvements have been targeting residents in Kent.

Medway Council urged residents to avoid doorstep workmen who have not been approved by the local authority.

The council said residents had handed over money to rogue traders in Lynors Avenue and Cedar Road, Strood, and Mackenzie Road, Chatham.

Councillor Mike O'Brien, the cabinet member for community safety, said they were preying on vulnerable people.

He said: "Those pressured into paying can find that no work is done or that they have to pay out for the work to be done properly.

"These traders prey on vulnerable members of the community and too often dupe them into handing over hundreds if not thousands of pounds for what is often shoddy work."
