Raiders take cash box in Longfield robbery

Two men wearing balaclavas robbed security guards who were filling up cash machines at a building society in a north Kent village.

The men used a hammer to smash the windows and gain access to Nationwide in Station Road, Longfield, on Monday night.

They took a cash box from the security guards and left in a black BMW car.

The pair drove to nearby Langafal Close, where they unsuccessfully tried to force open the cash box.

They left the box, hammer and BMW and drove away in a silver Audi.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the robbery, which happened at 2200 BST on Monday.
