Two people killed in Chartham head-on collision

Two people have been killed in a head-on collision between two cars in Kent.

Police officers said the accident happened on the A28 Ashford Road in Chartham, near Canterbury, at about 2230 BST on Friday.

A 19-year-old man in a Renault Clio and a 25-year-old woman in a VW Polo were pronounced dead at the scene.

Appealing for witnesses, police said one of the cars ended up in a field, while the other ended up on its roof. The road was closed until 0545 BST.

Police said there were no passengers in either vehicle.
