Businesses consulted on Herne Bay windfarm extension

Businesses in Thanet are being invited to find out more about plans to extend the Kentish Flats wind farm.

There are currently 30 turbines off the coast of Herne Bay, with plans for another 17.

Swedish energy giant Vattenfall said it wanted to give local firms the opportunity to "win some business".

Vattenfall confirmed its extension plans for the windfarm, which was built five years ago, last October. A planning decision is due next year.

The business consultation event will take place at Darwin College on the University of Kent's Canterbury campus on 6 May.

Goran Loman, Vattenfall's project manager, said: "We do think it's important to give companies in the area an edge."
