A seven-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a road collision involving a car which happened while he was riding his bicycle with friends in Folkestone.

Kent Police said the child was taken to hospital in Ashford with arm, leg and head injuries in the accident in Churchill Avenue on Wednesday evening.

The Folkestone boy remained in the William Harvey Hospital on Thursday in a stable condition, officers said.

The car involved in the collision ended up hitting a tree, police added.

A woman passenger in the car was taken to hospital with an injury that was not thought to be serious.

The man driving the car was also taken to hospital for a check-up.

Anyone who saw the collision, which happened just before 19:00 BST, is urged to contact PC Scott Norman at Kent Police.
