Teenager before court over Gravesend 'torch grab'

A youth has appeared in court charged with offences relating to an attempt to snatch the Olympic torch in Kent.

Medway magistrates bailed the 17-year-old who is due to appear next before Dartford magistrates on 14 August.

The teenager is accused of assaulting a police officer, common assault and a public order offence.

The alleged offences took place on Friday as the relay made its way along Rochester Road, in Gravesend, on Day 63 of its journey around the UK.
