Teenagers found in Ramsgate after toy boat blown out to sea

Three teenagers who were spotted heading out to sea in an inflatable toy boat in Kent have been found in a street in Ramsgate.

Dover Coastguard were called at 21:30 BST on Thursday after reports the youths were seen in Pegwell Bay, off Sandwich.

Rescue teams searched along the shore and a helicopter from RAF Wattisham was scrambled to join the search.

However, they were found later, with their boat, in Grange Road, Ramsgate.

Spike Hughes, from Dover Coastguard, said: "Inflatable boats and toys are great fun in the swimming pool, but don't use them at the seaside.

"As we can see from this incident, they can easily be blown out to sea.

"These children were very fortunate to have made it to shore. Others may not be so lucky."
