Girl, 11, critically hurt in Sittingbourne collision

An 11-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after she was struck by a car in Kent.

The emergency services were called to the A2 London Road, in Sittingbourne, just after 16:00 BST on Monday.

The youngster was flown by air ambulance to King's College Hospital in south London with head injuries.

Police said the driver of the car stopped at the scene, but was not arrested. An investigation into the collision is under way.

In July, a 14-year-old boy was struck by a car which failed to stop on the same stretch of road.

Kyle Coen, who was riding his bike, was pronounced dead at the scene.
