Gravesend fire: Man rescued from property above shops

Firefighters have rescued a man from a fire at a four-storey building in Kent.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the resident of the property above a parade of shops in Harmer Street in Gravesend was carried to safety by ladder.

The man was suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation. All of the other residents were able to get out of the building unharmed.

Six fire engines, as well as police and South East Coast Ambulance Service, attended the blaze at 00:45 BST.

The cause is under investigation.
