Sittingbourne students find dog dead in car on hot day

A dog has been found dead in a car outside a college in Kent.

The RSPCA said the black Labrador was discovered by students on the back seat of the vehicle outside Sittingbourne Community College earlier this week.

Spokeswoman Klare Kennett said the animal was thought to have suffocated to death in the heat after being left for several hours by its owner.

She said the circumstances were being investigated and urged owners not to leave pets in cars in hot weather.
