Woman, 72, killed in two-car crash on A2 at Northfleet

A 72-year-old woman has died following a two-car collision in Kent in which four other people were injured.

A Vauxhall Corsa and a Honda Jazz collided on the A2 at the Pepperhill junction, at Northfleet, at about 16:00 BST on Sunday.

Firefighters cut free three women from one vehicle and a man and woman from the second car.

The male driver of the Corsa, 30, from Dartford, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He suffered minor injuries and was later bailed.

The woman who died was a passenger in the Honda Jazz, and was declared dead at the scene.

The London-bound slip roads both off and on to the A2 were closed for several hours after the collision.
